The romantic hill station: Dalhousie

Dalhousie, the quaint hill station situated in Chamba district, in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh, has become a popular spot for a romantic honeymoon. It is a little town with an enchanting colonial look. The hill station is located along the Dhaulandhar Range which is about 80 kms away from Pathankot.
With its lush green forest, wide range of biodiversity and a refreshing ambiance, the snow cover hill station has become a couple’s hub. The snow covered mountains and the breathtaking view, together make it the perfect place to take your partner.

There are four beautiful churches in Dalhousie, which every couple must visit. There is St. Andrew’s Church and St. Patrick’s Church which are located at the Balun. The two churches have stunning interiors and glasswork all over its structure. Then there is St. Francis Church at Subhash Chowk which is a 119 years old church. It has got the gorgeous background of the Himalayas. Last but not the least us St. John’s Church which is located at Gandhi Chowk, which carries a big historical significance.

You should also see the most popular picnic spot called Khajjiar. It is about 24 kms away from Dalhousie. Khajjiar is covered with forest with a small lake right in the middle of the meadow. It is surrounded by cute wooden lodges and forest cabins. Here you can take a ride on a horse and enjoy the amazing ambiance. You can both spend the entire day and here and then go back or you can also stay a night and experience this stunning place during night.

About 10 kms away from Dalhousie there is an incredible wildlife sanctuary called the Kalatop Wildlife Santuary. Here you can spot leopards, bears, jackals, deer, barking marten, Himalayan black marten and beautiful birds. You will see the entire area covered with a thick layer of Deodar trees. The sanctuary is visited for picnics, trekking, nature walks and other adventurous activities.

You can also shop and eat at amazing places here. You can visit the Gandhi Chowk and buy some ethnic ornaments and a variety of souvenirs. If you want to buy some beautiful woolen shawls, then you must check out Thandi Sarak or the Himachal Handloom Industry Emporium. There is also a Tibetan handicrafts Centre on the Khajjiar Road. Here you can find some custom made Tibetan carpets. You can also find cute purses and bags in tiny shops. The food here at some old restaurants is mouthwatering. You can get Kashmiri, Chinese and Mughlai food here.

The summers here are pleasant with temperature ranging from 12 degrees to 25 degrees. The winters here get really cold and the hill station also experiences snowfall. Therefore the best time to visit Dalhousie is between the months of March to May.
