Sindhi dishes that you must try

There is an endless list of Indian food dishes from rich communities in India and one wonderful community is the Sindhi community. The traditional Sindhi food is super delicious and mouth-watering especially because of their cooking style. I visit my Sindhi aunt regularly to enjoy some amazing dishes and here are few of my favourite dishes

  • Dal Pakwan

It is a simple and healthy Sindhi breakfast made of moong dal and served with veggies like tomatoes, onion, and coriander. Pakwan is a deep fried roti of maida which is served with dal, it is crunchy and delicious in taste.

  • Koki

It is the most loved breakfast choice of Sindhis, it is like a paratha but is a little thicker. Koki is made of wheat flour, onion, coriander leaves, curry leaves, pomegranate seeds, and lots of desi ghee is added in the batter. It is very nutritious and delicious.

  • Juar jo Bathu

It is made of grounded millets seasoned with cardamom powder. The porridge could be served sweet or otherwise.

  • Seyun Patata

It is vermicelli served with potatoes and is a great Singhi breakfast option. The fried potato (patata) is infused with spices such as red chilli powder, turmeric, amchoor powder and coriander powder.

  • Sindhi Kadhi

This one is a signature Sindhi dish, it has a tangy taste and is a delicious mixture of besan, tomatoes, lady’s finger, cluster beans, drumsticks and tamarind pulp. You can enjoy it with steamed rice and Vaangan Bataloon.

  • Bori Kutti

It is crushed wheat flour rotis sauteed with sugar, ghee and cardamom powder, accompanied by signature Sindhi papad or pickles. It tastes delicious cold and hot both.
