Most dangerous runways from around the world

Taking a flight itself can be a little scary for people and it becomes even more difficult when you are landing on a dangerous runway.

There are a few runways that do not have the best reputation when it comes to safety. The reasons may differ but the fact remains the same. There are more than a few such runways but these top the list:

Lukla Airport, Nepal

Better known as Tenzing-Hillary Airport, this is known to be the most dangerous runway and is situated at the height of  9,500 feet. Since it is placed at such great height, the weather makes it challenging for the pilot to land.

Madeira Airport or Funchal Airport, Portugal

This airport is located near Santa Cruz and since it is near the Atlantic ocean, the crosswinds make it difficult for the plane to land.

Paro Airport, Bhutan

Not every pilot is qualified to fly across the Himalayan mountains of Bhutan. The landing can be a little tricky and hence it makes it a dangerous runway.

Princess Juliana International Airport, St. Maarten

This airport is made in a way that it passes very low and almost touches the ground before landing and can be dangerous.

Have you ever been to any of these airports?
