Cellular Jail National Memorial- Reminiscent of the Colonial Era
Port Blair is the capital of Andaman and Nicobar Islands where the Cellular Jail National Memorial is situated. It is an eminent example of the sacrifices of our freedom fighters and the frightful word “Kala Paani” that we have heard is referred to this place. It is a former British Prison that reminds us of our political dissidents that were jailed in it. Although several of its parts have been destroyed by the Japanese in World War II, it still reminds us of our brave and lion-hearted forefathers. Visiting between 9 am to 5 pm for the lighting shows- 5.30pm to 6.30 pm (Hindi) and 6.45pm to 7.45pm (English).
Ross and Smith Island Beach
The Ross and Smith Island Beach is a picturesque location and is famous among tourists. It is one of the calmest beaches of Andaman and Nicobar Islands attracting beach lovers from all over the world. It is a few miles from Diglipur Jetty and one can enjoy boat rides, crystal blue water, sunbathing, swimming, snorkeling and many more things. Both the beautiful and lonely beaches are connected through a natural sandbar which gives it a paradise view.
Lalaji Bay Beach, Long Island
It is yet another spectacular beach of Andaman and Nicobar Island and is located on the Western Coast. It is well connected by regular ferries from Rangat, Middle Andaman and is a must visit place for skinny dippers. You need to hire a dunghi from Long Island Jetty covering Mangrove Creek to reach Lalaji Bay Beach.
Sea Walking at North Bay Beach
In North Bay Beach you can walk under water and it is very convenient as there is no air pressure that bothers. Here under water, you can visit Octopus’s garden, watch colorful fishes, coral reefs and various marine wonders that you would have never seen before. North Bay is the finest sea walking place in Asia. You can normally breathe under the glass helmet and walk as you don’t need to bother for not knowing swimming.
