Ever since the Russians launched Sputnik into orbit in the 1950s, a space race has been going on around the world. The planet’s most advanced countries have been sending men (and women) into space for many decades now. While disaster has struck occasionally, that hasn’t stopped the drive to continue exploring deeper into space. We’re going to go over some of the reasons that 2014 is the year space travel will really start to get attention.

Space Travel in 2014

Here’s a look at some of the specific reasons we think space travel will start to get more attention in 2014 and beyond.

  • Better Technology – One of the biggest reasons space travel is going to start getting more attention this year is that new technologies are making it easier and safer to escape the atmosphere and make it to outer space.

  • The Space Race – Believe it or not, the space race – nations competing against each other – is still happening. As China and other countries begin to send humans to space, the United States and Russia are trying to boost their own space programs.

  • Private Companies – Ever since Elon Musk launched his first rocket successfully, other private corporations have begun to look at the possibility of manned and unmanned space travel. Some are even considering the next big step – going to Mars.

  • Space Tourism – Speaking of private companies, there are also many signs pointing to 2014 being the year that space tourism starts to take off as prices to leave the planet drop considerably. As more average, everyday people go into space, this is going to spur a whirlwind of activity with people all over the planet clamoring to get  into outer space one way or another.

  • Cheaper Prices – One of the main reasons that more space tourists are getting excited about going into space is that the prices to get there are going down. While still very expensive – compared to a train ride to Cleveland – more and more people are going to be able to afford going to space, which is going to further spur the industry.

As you can clearly see from the list above, there are a lot of signs pointing to space travel becoming more important all over the world. Any nation that’s able to send a rocket to space is going to be spending more and more time trying to achieve greater objectives in outer space. This is going to spawn a renewed wave of interest in space travel from the private sector to the government. Would you like to travel into outer space?
