The beauty on top of the Aravalli range: Mount Abu

Mount Abu is the picturesque and the only hill station in the state of Rajasthan. It is located near the Sirohi district and on top of the beautiful Aravalli Range. It is set at an elevation of about 1220 meters above sea level. The hill station is situated on the Gujarat- Rajasthan border.

Mount Abu is approximately a 7 hour drive from Ahmedabad. Other transport options are also available from Baroda, Udaipur, Jaipur and other Rajasthan and Gujarat cities. The nearest railways station is Abu Road station, which is 20 kms away from the hill station.

Nakki Lake

Another popular tourist attraction in Mount Abu is the Nakki Lake. It is a sacred and ancient lake. The Hindu mythology tells us that this lake was dug by the Gods themselves by simple using their nails to shelter form the Demon Bashkali. It is popular for picnics, adventurous activities, trekking, boating and watching the beautiful landscape atop a hot air balloon. It gives you the most splendid view overseeing the Aravalli hills. Dilwara Temple

If you love Hindu religious places with some amazing architectural work then your next stop should be the Dilwara Temples complex. There are five Jain temples with some brilliant marble use in the architecture of the temples. The gorgeous carvings and stone laying techniques make it a popular pilgrimage spot. Chalukyas took about 200 years to make these beautiful temples.

Mount Abu Wildlife Sanctuary

Another mesmerizing spot to visit is the Mount Abu Wildlife Sanctuary. In 1980, the forest between the Aravalli mountain range was professed as a wildlife sanctuary. It is spread across an area of 288 sqkms. It is home to a huge variety of flora and fauna. The main attraction here is the Leopard. Besides it you can also spot wolfs, jungle cats, hyena, Indian fox and many more.

Sunset Point

The most breathtaking spot in Mount Abu is the sunset point. It is one of the most beautiful and romantic places to visit in the hill station. One can enjoy walks or a cup of tea with their partners.
