Amazing Auckland

Auckland, popularly known as the “City Of Sails” is located in the North Island of New Zealand. A city with a vibrant night life and busy port, Auckland is famous for its various nautical events and sees over a 130,000 yachts every year from all around the world. It is full of natural beauty with breath taking sights, from its beaches to its rivers and volcanoes.

The main attraction of Auckland is the Waitemata Harbour which is also known as the Auckland harbour as it is the main access by sea to Auckland.

The Viaduct basin is another harbour that enjoys considerable popularity with the tourists as it was the centre for the 2000 America’s Cup. Auckland is sprawling with natural beauty. Auckland straddles the Auckland volcanic field, which has produced about 50 volcanoes.

After a day of revelling in the natural beauty of Auckland, one can go and let their hair down in the Sky City, which offers a wide variety of restaurants, bars and casinos that cater to all the senses. Auckland also offers a variety of activities for the entertainment of the whole family.

One such place is the Snowplanet, an all-year indoor snow resort where visitors can indulge in various activities such as skiing, snowboarding and snow tubing. Auckland is also home to the Amazing Maze and Maize, which is a giant maze in a field of maize. Its design is changed every year. And for those feeling brave and adventurous can visit the Spookers Haunted Attraction Theme Park that takes you on a trip through the scariest, creepiest, most blood curdling attractions outside of America.  Fans of the “Lord of the Rings” would definetly not want to miss a visit to the original film set via the Bush and Beach Hobbiton Express. This is indeed an amazing experience for bookworms and film lovers.

Auckland, being a coastal city has a warm temperature, with humid summers and mild, damp winters. Its currency is US Dollars which is approximately 55INR. Most of the shops in this city accept payment in Indian, Japanese and European currency as well.

You should visit Auckland preferably in the winters as it has cool, pleasant weather that time. The main language spoken is English so communicating and exploring is not an issue. Auckland harbours very friendly and helpful people who are always ready to lend a helping hand.

Auckland offers a variety of New Zealand’s savoury delights and amazing wines. It offers spectacular sea crabs and prawns. It’s most exotic wines include the Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay. A visit to Auckland is incomplete without a dinner in a local Auckland shack offering their local food like kumara(sweet potato), taro, ti plants.

You would be amazed at the variety of vegetarian food in this region. This area is one of the very few which has advocated Vegetarianism at such a large scale. This has been regarded as an alternative lifestyle for many years, though it got taken up with at most seriousness only during the 1980s. Being a hard lifestyle to adopt the amount of consistent vegetarian in this are is still less. Their Ministry of Health has appealed to people to eat less meat and take more intake of vegetables and cereals.

Though even if you are a meat lover,you need not worry. You would still find the variety of meat and sea food that defines Auckland.
